Art without love is no art at all.
Such is the principle that I ever keep in mind.
Greetings. I’m Aoki Katsumata, a music composer with a focus on video games. I’m also co-founder and an active member of ECLIPSE Sound Team, alongside four talented and equally passionate friends.
To say that my love of music goes as far back as my birth is no overstatement. I learned to play the piano as a child and during my teens. Throughout that time, I became very familiar with the inner workings of music—”music theory”, as it is commonly referred to. It is also at that time that I started composing music. Now in my thirties, I have dedicated well over 15 years of my life to music production, always eager to improve.
This love for music is accompanied by a love for visual arts, and for storytelling. I grew up watching plenty of movies, and playing video games. It did not take long for me to realize the power that the weaving of these arts can have on people. Thus, entering the backstage of video game music felt like the most natural thing in the world to me.
I compose, arrange, mix, and master all of my music myself. I believe that the entirety of the artistic process—the passion, the sweat, and the tears—is as important as the end result; it constitutes an inherent part of genuine artistry. For this reason, I make no room for generative AI in any part of the music-making process. I also stay away from AI mastering services, favoring full control over how my music sounds.
In addition to this skillset, I have a foot in graphics design, producing many of the visuals seen in my or ECLIPSE Sound Team’s releases.
I have worked on a variety of projects over the years, from short albums to entire game soundtracks. Have a look!

Do not be misled by the way I express myself. I love formal speech, but I also happen to be a hopeless goofball. Call it the duality of man, if you will. Still, I take my work very seriously, and I strive for excellence in everything I do. Maybe the following testimonies will explain that better than I can.
“I have been following Aoki for a long time; I listened to all of his music, watched him improve, and I personally commissioned several songs. I can’t think of a time I was disappointed with any of those commissions; he always nails it with the first draft where he shows me the song’s direction. Aoki also does an awesome job with album covers and graphic design, which helps give a context for certain songs so you not only have music, but visuals that leave an even stronger impression in your mind.”
